The first flight of the trash bag box kite

After many tries and multiple crashes the trash bag box kite finally flew, like a dementor.

Here's one of our newest members trying to manage the kite string.  Clearly he has much to learn.  Please keep in mind that no member of the Kite String Society shall be ridiculed for their behavior in the field, even if (by holding their arms up like superman) they exhibit what might look like a "want to fly."

All members of the Kite String Society should remember the importance of having a good understanding of several types of useful knots.

Goal!

The first box kite

poplar frame with string buttresses
The first meeting of the Kite String Society was a huge success. We were able to construct the frame for the first box kite. It's four feet high by sixteen inches wide and deep. It'll likely be covered in plastic rather than paper since the rainy season has arrived here in Tacoma.
